Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial championship for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid year, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the American major.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in especial - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive win over challenger Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court since March of that year.

Success also signifies the Russian has achieved 21 championships at 21 distinct events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters together, so to get a title is particularly special," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his last six championship matches, including in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive play style and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had led some to wonder if his ability to compete at the elite level was concluded.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and perform positively, backed up by an improved serve.

The champion came back from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, securing four of the last five points to gain the advantage.

Both players traded break points in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his initial professional title, gained dominance to push for a final set.

Moutet rescued 4 initial break points in a close third set before Medvedev broke to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the title with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
